Our Vision

To fully empower businesses through the talent, knowledge, and resources of Brevard County.

Our History

Accelerate Brevard’s legacy spans over eight decades, rooted in a commitment to progress and collaboration.

In 1921, the communities of Cocoa, Rockledge, and Merritt Island each established their own Chambers of Commerce, followed by Cocoa Beach in 1925. These independent chambers played a vital role in supporting local businesses and shaping the economic landscape. However, forward-thinking leaders saw the potential for a unified voice that could better serve the region.

By 1967, representatives from the existing chambers began discussions to form a consolidated organization. After months of planning, on September 1, 1968, the Cocoa-Rockledge Chamber, the Merritt Island Chamber, and the Cape Kennedy Chamber merged to create the Cape Kennedy Area Chamber of Commerce, with Dudley Jewell as its first Executive Director.

Tommy Alston served as the inaugural Chairman of the Board in 1968 and returned to lead again in 1975. Today, he remains actively engaged in the Chamber’s initiatives and continues his leadership as President of Alston Properties, Inc., in Merritt Island. The Chamber’s history is marked by the contributions of distinguished business and community leaders who have shaped its legacy.

On January 31, 2025, at the 57th Annual Gala, the Chamber introduced its bold new identity: Accelerate Brevard: Chamber of Innovation. More than just a name, this transformation represents a renewed commitment to economic vitality, advocacy, and strategic partnerships. With a history of impact and a future driven by innovation, Accelerate Brevard is dedicated to ensuring businesses and communities have the resources, support, and collaborative energy they need to thrive.
