It’s Time to Wake the Lion

From the President and CEO, Jimmy Lane.
There are moments in the life of every organization when it has a choice to make.
It can continue doing what it has always done, celebrating past accomplishments while hoping yesterday’s success is enough for tomorrow.
Or…
It can decide that the future deserves more.
Over the past year, that is exactly the conversation we have been having at Accelerate Brevard.
Not just among our Board of Directors. Not just among our Staff. But with business leaders, entrepreneurs, elected officials, educators, nonprofit partners, military leaders, and countless members throughout our community.
The message has been remarkably consistent.
Brevard County is entering one of the most significant periods of opportunity in its history.
Our space economy is expanding at an unprecedented pace. Entrepreneurs are building the next generation of companies. New residents continue to choose Florida’s Space Coast as their home. Our military installations remain among the most important in the nation. Industries are evolving. Technology is accelerating. The expectations placed upon organizations like ours have never been greater.
The question is no longer whether opportunity exists.
The question is whether we are willing to lead it.
For nearly six decades, this organization has played an important role in strengthening our business community. We are proud of that legacy. But legacy alone is never enough.
Leadership is not something you inherit.
Leadership is something you earn every single day.
That is why you have seen so much change over the past year.

You have seen us become Accelerate Brevard, a name that reflects not where we have been, but where we are going.
You have seen us expand our work through Ascend Brevard, investing in entrepreneurs, workforce innovation, military partnerships, and industries that will define the future of our economy.
You have seen us challenge ourselves to think differently, communicate differently, and lead differently.
And we are only getting started.
Our vision is simple.
We will become the organization that convenes the right people, asks the right questions, and brings together the talent, knowledge, and resources needed to move Brevard County forward.
That means creating access.
It means advocating with purpose.
It means helping businesses grow.
It means investing in leadership.
It means building partnerships that outlast any single event, initiative, or individual.
Most importantly, it means refusing to become comfortable.
Too often, organizations slowly drift into maintaining what exists rather than creating what is possible.
That will never be our story.
Every generation has an opportunity to leave something stronger than it inherited.
I believe this is ours. Over the coming months, you’ll see new programs, stronger advocacy, deeper community partnerships, expanded opportunities for entrepreneurs, fresh conversations around innovation, and a renewed commitment to ensuring that Accelerate Brevard is not simply reacting to change, but helping shape it.
This blog is part of that commitment.
Each month, members of our leadership team will share what we’re seeing, what we’re learning, and where we believe our community is headed. Sometimes we’ll celebrate success. Sometimes we’ll challenge conventional thinking. Sometimes we’ll ask difficult questions.
But every article will have one purpose:
To help build a stronger, more connected, and more innovative Brevard County.
Because the future doesn’t belong to organizations that wait.
It belongs to those willing to lead.
Our community has extraordinary potential.
Our businesses deserve extraordinary leadership.
And I believe the best chapters of Accelerate Brevard are still ahead.
The lion isn’t being created.
It has always been here.
It’s simply time to wake it.
Thank you for believing in this organization, investing in this community, and joining us as we build what comes next.
Together, we’ll accelerate what’s possible.
